How We Work as a Global Team

Disrupt's Collaboration Story: Working Together Across Borders

July 3, 2026

When Disrupt talks about a 'global team'

The term 'global team' is easily found in any job posting. But at Disrupt, it doesn't just mean people connected across screens from afar. It's closer to the idea that Disruptors from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds work together in the same office, sharing the same space every day.

Disrupt is a marketing agency that helps Korean brands enter global markets. For us, 'global' is not just our vision, but an organizational culture naturally integrated into our daily work. In a single office located in Korea, members from various countries sit together, combining their insights into different markets and cultures to drive our partners' growth. In this article, we'll take a closer look at how Disrupt truly operates as a 'global team,' examining our collaboration methods and communication structure.

When Diversity Becomes Our Strength

When people of various nationalities work together on one team, it's easy to imagine an environment where 'differences must be overcome.' However, Disrupt's approach starts from the exact opposite premise. We view our differences not as gaps to be narrowed, but as unique strengths that are hard to find elsewhere.

The area where this is most evident is localization. Even the same message or expression can sound natural in one market but awkward in another. At Disrupt, before content goes out into the world, a Disruptor who has directly experienced and grown up in that market reviews every single expression right next to you. It's not just translating words; it's a process of recreating the message with the authentic language and sentiment used by people in that culture. Having a 'real user' from that market just a seat away, ready to answer questions immediately, is Disrupt's unique strength.

The same applies when creating proposals. When members from diverse backgrounds contribute their opinions on a single strategy, gaps and opportunities that might have been overlooked from one perspective are revealed. Furthermore, Disrupt can create customized proposals tailored to the specific markets our partners aim to target. Moreover, this strength particularly shines when building our partners' Shopify websites. A website that international customers will encounter isn't complete with just text translation. From the tone of voice in product descriptions and the phrasing on a single purchase button, to the small details that build trust with local customers – only when these align with the market's nuances is a truly 'locally made' experience achieved. At Disrupt, a Disruptor who deeply understands the language and sentiment of that market directly participates in this process, meticulously filling in details that might easily be missed by translation alone. The more members from different backgrounds examine it together, the more gaps that were invisible from a single perspective are filled, and as a result, our partners' brands can approach local customers in unfamiliar markets without feeling awkward.

“In marketing, even a tiny nuance can make a huge difference. Working with colleagues from various countries means we can achieve true localization tailored to each market, not just simple translation, which I see as a major strength. In particular, every discussion becomes an opportunity to learn about new cultures, consumer behaviors, and ways of thinking, and I feel these experiences lead to more creative ideas and powerful strategies.”

“At Disrupt, there's always someone who looks at problems from a different perspective. We have colleagues who can tell us how a certain strategy might be received in a specific market, or what perspectives we might have overlooked. I believe these diverse viewpoints come together to create sharper, more culturally insightful outcomes.”

Nefeli  |  🇬🇷 Greece

“It's always fascinating how the same idea or ad campaign can be received completely differently depending on a person's cultural background or market. Through these conversations, my perspective broadens, and I find myself thinking beyond my existing ideas to consider more creative and balanced solutions.”

Working as One Team, Beyond Linguistic and Cultural Nuances

While it's certainly wonderful to have multiple cultures coexisting in one office, it also requires careful effort. Disrupt has cultivated its own unique methods to navigate this naturally.

First, Disrupt's common language is English. Although we are a Korea-based team, we use English as our shared language to ensure no one struggles to voice their opinions due to language barriers. However, what we value more than 'perfect English' is 'clear communication.' Knowing that one unambiguous sentence is more valuable than elaborate expressions or grammatically perfect sentences, we convey the core message concisely and don't hesitate to ask again about anything unclear.

The same applies to cultural differences. The way feedback is given and received, and the tone in which opinions are expressed, can vary slightly depending on one's background. Disrupt doesn't view these differences as a matter of 'right or wrong,' but rather as an opportunity to take one step closer to understanding each other's ways. These small understandings, built up daily while working closely together in the same space, create a team synergy where communication flows even without words.

"Despite language and cultural differences, communication at Disrupt is remarkably open and collaborative. Asking questions and sharing ideas are naturally encouraged, and I believe this is what makes Disrupt stronger as a global team."

Estelle  |  🇰🇷 South Korea

"Because everyone brings their unique perspectives and experiences, a culture of learning from each other and exchanging feedback has naturally formed. Although our native languages and cultural backgrounds differ, communication is always clear and collaborative, which allows us to proceed smoothly with projects."

Linda  |  🇩🇪 Germany

Ultimately, the language we share is 'results' and 'trust'.

How can a team with diverse nationalities, native languages, and cultural backgrounds move as one? The answer Disrupt found ultimately lies in two common languages: 'results' and 'trust'.

First, Disrupt communicates transparently (Radical Transparency). This is one of the values Disrupt pursues. Information is not held by a select few; instead, the background and process of decisions are made visible to the entire team. True collaboration only begins when everyone, regardless of the language they speak, can make decisions based on the same information.

And we approach our work with ownership and proactivity (Ownership & Proactivity). Instead of waiting for someone to give detailed instructions, we make our own judgments within our areas of responsibility and see them through to the end. The reason we can trust colleagues from different backgrounds is that we all share the commitment to 'let results speak for themselves.' Looking towards the same goal despite different origins – this is why Disrupt can be strong as a global team.

"Working in a global team is always an enjoyable experience. At first, cultural differences might feel unfamiliar, but I actually think that's the most interesting part. Working with colleagues from diverse backgrounds, I learn new perspectives I hadn't encountered before, and when making decisions, the addition of various ideas and experiences leads to much richer discussions. It's not always the most comfortable environment, but I believe it's where I can grow the most."

Helen  |  🇲🇳 Mongolia

"It's rare to find an environment where people from such diverse countries, cultures, and professional backgrounds work together towards a common goal. By sharing our experiences and knowledge to solve problems, we can create more creative and effective solutions."

Nuzkhat  |  🇰🇿 Kazakhstan

"While discovering our differences is interesting, you'll find that working together often reveals many unexpected commonalities."
